A gulper eel is a fish that lives in depths ranging from 3000 to 6000 feet. The Gulper eel also grows from 2 – 6ft with a mouth about half its body length. Its mouth is loosely hinged so it is able to swallow prey much bigger than itself. The Gulper eel also has a biolumnesant organ at the end of its tail. It has several rows of small teeth in its mouth. The Gulper eel is black with sometimes a white line or groove on either side of its dorsal fin. It feeds on mostly crustaceans but it also eats fish. The gulper is much different than what we are used to so that it can survive in a harsh environment. Gulper Eel Picture1
