Third Day was started originally by Mac Powell, who sings lead; Mark Lee, who is the band’s guitarist; and Billy Wilkins, a former band member. In 1992, Powell, Lee, and Wilkins were playing at Lee’s church on the same night that David Carr, who later became Third Day’s drummer, and Tai Anderson, later to be Third Day’s bassist, were playing in a band named Bullard Family Singers. They were asked to perform at their church by their youth director and were invited to join the band. Carr produced an album titled Long Time Forgotten, which was released the following year. Wilkins later left the band to become a school teacher. Third Day continued to perform, but was looking for a new guitarist. They found Brad Avery and asked him to join. He officially became a member after Third Day’s album Consuming Fire was released. To get the full story, click here. |
