Because the original name of the new band was “Hybrid Theory,” they decided that they should name their first album in honor of it. Hybrid Theory was stamped “diamond” (selling over 10 million copies), and also is one of the RIAA’s top 100 best selling albums. The next year they made Reanimation, which was made of remixes of songs on their previous album plus songs never heard before. About 18 months after Hybrid Theory debuted, the band came out with their second album entitled Meteora. Meteora was stamped “Multi-Platinum” (selling over 2 million copies) and won numerous awards. Final sales of Meteora were around 3 million copies. After Meteora the band took a break. After about two years the band started to work on another remix album with Jay-Z. Afterward Jay-Z convinced Shinoda to pursue a rap career and created the band Fort Minor. He helped him produce Rising Tide. In 2007 Linkin Park debuted their long waited album Minutes to Midnight. Minutes to Midnight sold 625,000 copies in the first week. Many songs from that album were put into movies like Transformers and Halloween. A Thousand Suns was released in 2010. During the same time the band was also working on making a score for the movie Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. The band also made a song just for the movie entitled “New Divide.” 2012 held the band’s most recent album Living Things.
