The first Dodge Charger was the 1964 show car. It had a 426-wedge engine to start off with the first Charger. In 1967 Dodge put a hemi engine in it. That’s when it was used for racing in circuit races. The back was a box but then they changed it to a slope. Also in 1967 the added 11in. disc brakes to the front and the back of the car. Dodge added a bumper guard to the front and back of the car. The famous Richard Petty drove a 1968 Charger when he raced NASCAR.
