Allen Iverson was born on June 7, 1975 in Hampton, Virginia.  He went to Georgetown where he played basketball under Coach John Thompson.  While at Georgetown, Iverson was named Big East Defensive Player of the Year in his freshman and sophomore season.  Because of his family situation, Iverson decided to go professional after his sophomore year.  Iverson was drafted first overall in the 1996 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers.  He played for the 76ers for 10 years and accomplished a lot.  Iverson was Rookie of the Year, League MVP, a two time All-Star MVP, and he led the league in scoring for four years.  He was traded to the Denver Nuggets in 2006 and is now on the Detroit Pistons.
