Powerbook history- Apple first Powerbook portable computer was the Powerbook 100 and featured a 16mhz CPU, only 2mb of ram, and a small 640x480 screen.
This Powerbook series lasted from 1991 until 1997 when Apple released the Powerbook G3 with slightly better performance and a larger 12-inch screen. And from 2001 to 2006 their top of the line laptop was the Powerbook G4.
The G4 featured the sleek aluminum enclosure that Macs are now known for. It also came with a wide screen and was eventually offered in 12, 15, and 17inch models. The Powerbook topped out with a 1.67ghz processor as the last model. In 2006 the Powerbook name was lost when Apple switched to Intel processors used in the current Macbook Pros. |
