Kyrie was born on March 23, 1992, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, because that is where his father played pro ball. He moved to the United States when he was two, but he still has dual citizenship. Kyrie’s mom died when he was four, so his dad and aunts raised him. While in high school, he first attended Montclair Kimberly Academy before transferring to St. Patrick High School before his junior year. Coming out of high school he was ranked the number two basketball player by Scout, fourth by Rivals, and third by ESPN. He was selected to play for the 2010 Junior National Select Team. He was also selected to play in the 2010 McDonald’s All-American Game and the 2010 Jordan Brand Classic. He was named Co-MVP with Harrison Barnes in the Jordan Game. He also won a gold medal at the FIBA Americas U18 Championship.
