Grade 6


Lessons:  The elements of art are still stressed with more involved projects


Objective:  to explore how different cultures of today and throughout history express themselves through works of art


Grading:  Students are evaluated on the following areas:

          

  1. 1.Art concepts and vocabulary

  2. 2.Problem solving skills

  3. 3.Projects completed on time

  4. 4.Listens and follows directions

  5. 5.Peer interaction

  6. 6.Follows classroom rules

  7. 7.Takes responsibility for attaining goals

Lessons: Each lesson builds upon the elements of art while adding design principles (Focal Point, Balance, Emphasis, Unity, Harmony, Variation, Contrast, Proportion and Rhythm)


Objective:  to introduce students to various famous artists and their techniques


Grading: A/F  each project is evaluated using a rubric and short answer quiz


Classes:  held every day for one semester



Grade 8

Lessons:  Designed to build upon and increase knowledge of elements and principles of design with an increased variety of media and techniques


Objective:  to communicate feeling, emotion and ideas though art


Grading:  A/F  each project is graded using a rubric


Classes:  held every day for one semester




 

Lessons:  Focus is placed upon the elements of art (Line, Shape, Color, Value, Form, and Space)


Objective:  to introduce students to new techniques and improve problem solving skills


Grading:  Students are evaluated on the following areas:
