To get to the mystery box you have to accumulate points to open the door leading to the box. You also need points to open the box. When you open the box you run the risk of getting a very good gun like the Ray Gun, or you can get a bad weapon like the Springfield. The Ray Gun is a new weapon that was being experimented with during World War 2. At the beginning of the game you start out with an m1911 Colt.
