Elizabeth Swann

Elizabeth Swann is typically in the wrong place at the wrong time throughout the Pirate movies. Daughter of the governor of Port Royal, a British base in the Caribbean, she is arranged to marry the high class Colonel Norrington. Through the movie however, Elizabeth falls for the handsome Will Turner…a blacksmith’s apprentice. The two had been friends since Will was rescued from a burning ship wearing a pirate’s medallion. When she is kidnapped and taken from her home in Port Royal by Balbosa’s crew, she lies to Balbosa, giving him Will’s last name instead of her own…the very name that the pirates are looking for. This complicates the entire journey for everyone. Kiera Knightley does a terrific job of portraying Elzabeth’s character in these movies.
