There have been three Michigan players who have won the Heisman Trophy. Tom Harmon was the first to win the award in 1940. The next was by Desmond Howard in 1991, who was recently honored on September 10, 2011 in Michigan’s first ever night game that was played against Notre Dame. Junior Hemingway wore a patch on his throwback jersey to honor Desmond. Charles Woodson won the last Heisman in 1997.
