Dekker was born in Indonesia. His parents were missionaries who lived among a headhunter tribe in Indonesia. When he left Indonesia he graduated from a multi-cultural high school. He went on to study philosophy and religion. After earning his bachelor’s degree he entered the corporate world later trading it for entrepreneurial pursuits. In the nineties while visiting a friend that had just wrote a book Dekker decided to become a novelist. After two years he wrote two novels then rewrote them both from scratch. Two years later he published his first novel Heaven’s Wager.His newest novel is The Bride Collector, which comes out April 13 2010.
