Kid Cudi grew up in Shaker Heights around Cleveland. His father, a house painter and World War ll veteran died when Cudi was only eleven years old. His mother was a middle school choir teacher at Shaker Heights High School. His parents had much effect on the style of music he was introducing. Cudi earned his GED and later studied film at the University of Toledo but dropped out after a year.
