Story of Noragami In the beginning, Yato is looking for a missing cat, Milord. When he finally finds Milord, Yato runs in front of a bus in the middle of the street. A passerby, Hiyori runs and pushes Yato out of the way and takes a bad hit. Later that night, Yato visits Hiyori in the hospital and scares her half to death by basically acting like a stalker. As Hiyori learns more about Yato, she pays him five yen to fix her body. However, Yato pushes the job back, since he himself doesn’t even know how to get her soul to stay on the Near Shore. The Far Shore is where gods, Yokai, and regalias are from. Normal people overlook them because they can't really see them. The Near Shore is the world that humans live in. As the days go by, Yato gains a new regalia, Yukine, and learns that in order to help Hiyori, he has to cut all ties with her. As selfish as Yato is, he wants to keep Hiyori’s company and the five yen, so he still ignores the job. Later on in the series, Yato has conflicts with Bishamon and a few other gods and goddesses, as well as Yukine’s jealousy and envious thoughts about normal teens who have friends and a family. Soon, this catches up with Yato, infecting him with Yukine’s evil and draining him of his strength.Nora starts making appearances only to get rid of Hiyori for good to have Yato all for herself. Along with Nora’s actions, Rabo is pulling the strings and takes Hiyori’s memory away and transfers them into a small red pebble. As Yato fights one on one with Rabo at the end of the series, Hiyori’s memories are destroyed leaving her like a soulless doll. With Yato determined, Hiyori finally comes through not leaving Yato to suffer and decides to stay between the Far and Near Shores. |
