Smart Parts is a paintball marker manufacturer based out of Latrobe, Pennsylvania.  Some of their achievements include the All American Barrel, a 2-piece unit that has a spiral porting with the front being a .68 caliber barrel, and a ramping feature know as Turbo mode.  Their lineup includes the Shocker (1996), Impulse (2000), Nerve (2003), Ion (2005, their most popular marker), the SP-1 and SP-8, the MILSIM line-up, Eos, Vibe, and the re-release of the Ion XE.  The major barrel system is the Freak barrel, a 3-piece with 10 different sizes.  Ramping is when you pull the trigger at 5 shots per second and increases to 9 or even 15 shots per second.  It is allowed in some tournaments but not permitted on many fields.  The original release of the Ion was undeniably the most unanticipated as it was an immediate hit that exceeded sales and demand.  This started the trend for selling markers at the lowest mark-up price.
