After dc Talk split, McKeenhan went solo, under the name of TobyMac. His music is more of a hip hop, urban sound, which is different from the rock-based style that was heard in dc Talk. |

Many of his songs were used in different productions. For example, the song “The Slam” was featured in the movie Never Back Down. It also advertised films such as Transporter 2 and The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. The song even advertised the TV show Prison Break. His song “Feelin’ So Fly” was featured in the 2007 movie The Game Plan, which starred Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. |

McKeenhan’s album, Portable Sounds, sold 50,645 copies and was put #10 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on the SoundScan Contemporary Christian Overall chart. It also won a Grammy nomination for Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album. In 2007, the songs “Made to Love” and “I’m for You” were second and third most played songs on Christian Hit Radio Stations and both hit #1. |
