Tamina, the princess of Alamut portrayed by Gemma Arterton, is taken back to Persia when her holy city is attacked. When she escapes with Dastan, she tries to kill him to get the Dagger of Time back, but Dastan accidentally finds out the dagger can turn back time. Upon this, they keep traveling and meet a tax-hating ostrich racer who tries to capture Dastan and turn him in for a reward. However, Tamina helps him escape by setting all the ostriches loose. Later on the journey, Tamina reveals to Dastan that she is the guardian of the dagger and that if the dagger falls into the wrong hands, it would unleash the wrath of the gods on all men. After Nazim, Dastan's uncle, steals the dagger, Tamina and Dastan go back to Alamut where the sands of time are hidden. Nazim tries to turn back time to become king, but Tamina and Dastan get there in time to stop him. Nazim then kicks Dastan and Tamina off the edge, only to be saved by Dastan holding onto the ledge. Tamina tells Dastan that he needs to stop Nazim and lets go, plummeting down never to be seen again.
