Akio Morita was the co-founder of Sony. Before Sony he was involved in sake, miso and soy sauce production. In 1946, Morita and Ibuka founded Sony, but it wasn’t named that. In 1960 they established Sony in America. Morita was awarded the Albert Medal. Two years later he received the National order of the Legion of Honor. In 1993 he suffered a stroke playing tennis, in 1999 he died of pneumonia at the age of 78.
