Maya Angelou was born on April 4th, 1928. Angelou has been called “America’s most visible black female autobiographer” (Wikipedia).
	She is well known for her sixteen autobiographic books that talk about her first seventeen years of life and how racism affected her childhood and growing up.
Angelou is best known for her highly acclaimed I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. Angelou is so well-known for her poetry that motivates people that she presented a poem at President Bill Clinton’s inauguration.
