Sheldon Allan “Shel” Silverstein was born September 25th, 1930, and died May 9th, 1999. Silverstein was an American poet, singer-songwriter, musician, composer, cartoonist, and screenwriter.
Shel Silverstein was well known for his children’s poems and rhyming words. He overlooked the fact that some people thought his “low-class” and “amature” writings wouldn’t make it far.
	Shel Silverstein left behind a high standard for children’s poetry.
