Mastodon formed in 1999 in Atlanta, Georgia. Mastodon’s genre of music is considered Progressive Metal or Sludge Metal. Mastodon consist of four members, bassist/vocalist Troy Sanders, guitarist/vocalist Brent Hinds, guitarist Bill Kelliher and drummer/vocalist Brann Dailor. Mastodon has been very popular in pop culture featuring their songs in video games and in the movies. Mastodon has received great praise from very notable people such as the “Rolling Stones”, “Metal Hammer”, and “Kerrang!” magazines. Mastodon has won two Grammy Awards, one for Best Rock Album and one for Best Producer in a Rock Album. Mastodon has gone on to do about nine world tours so far.
