Emmitt Smith Photo
Tom Laundry was the first head coach for Dallas Cowboys and actually got fired after some of the worst seasons in Dallas history, and Jimmy Johnson replaced him. In 1984 H.R. “Bum” Bright purchased “The Boys” from Clint Murchison, Jr. The 90’s was the decade where the Cowboys really took off and acquired Emmitt Smith, Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin, Nate Newton, Ken Norton Jr., Mark Tuinei, Russel Maryland, Darren Woodson, Darly Johnston, Mark Stepnoski, Jim Jeffcoat, Jay Novacek, and Charles Haley. With this new, young, and elite 90’s team the Cowboys won 3 Super Bowls, 3 Conference Championships, and 6 Division Championships. They also sent a record-breaking 11 players to the Pro Bowl in 1993. May 2, 2009 was a frightful day as the Cowboys’ Stadium collapsed during a windstorm injuring 12 players and coaches also leaving Joe DeCamillis (special teams coach) with a fractured cervical vertebrae and Rich Behm (33-year-old scouting assistant) permanently paralyzed from the waist down. 2009 season playoffs ended their post-season winning drought since 1996 with a “W” over the Philadelphia Eagles.
