One of Ohio State’s tradition is Brutus Buckeye, the school’s mascot. Brutus first appeared in 1965. Brutus is one of the more visible symbols of Ohio State athletics. Another tradition that they have is the Hall of Fame. It is to pay tribute and extend recognition to those individuals who through the years have contributed to the honor of the fame of The Ohio State University in the field of athletics, and who have continued to demonstrate, in their daily lives, the values learned in their intercollegiate athletics. One of the other things they have as traditions is their marching band. Their favorite way to come out is the ramp entrance. It dates back to 1928. As they begin their performance the percussion section leaders stands at the back of the ramp setting the tempo of 180 beats per minute. At the appointed time they come out shouting. Then the rest of the people will line up, to get ready for their turn to go out. |
