One of Eminem’s best friends since he was 16 was DeShaun Dupree Holton, better known as Proof. Proof was also a rapper from Detroit. He was in a band called D12 (The Dirty Dozen) with Eminem and four others. In 2006 Proof was shot in the chest and killed. Eminem mentions Proof’s death in “Déjà Vu”, “Beautiful”, and “Elevator” in his Relapse album and also “Going Through Changes”, “Talking to Myself” and “You’re Never Over” in his Recovery album.
