William Marrion Branham was born April 6, 1909, in Cumberland County, Kentucky. William grew up in poverty being the first of ten children, having a fifteen-year-old mother, and living with an alcoholic father. |

On the day of William’s birth, a bright light came whirling in the window of their small cabin and hung over the bed. This was just the beginning of the supernatural signs that would follow William throughout his life. |
|
Several years later, William was on his way from fetching water when a voice came from a mighty wind that said, "Don't you ever drink, smoke, or defile your body in any way. There'll be work for you to do when you get older.” |

William Branham kept this commandment from the Angel of the Lord and ended up building a humble church in Jeffersonville, Indiana shortly before marrying his wife, Hope Brumbach. |
