Walter Payton was the king of rushing for the Chicago Bears. Out of his 13-year career, he missed just one game due to injury. After his retirement after 1987, Payton was the NFL record-holder in career rushing touchdowns, career rushing yards from scrimmage, most seasons with 1,000 or more rushing yards, and rushing yards in one game. This man could do it all: run, block, and pass. Walter held seven records after his retirement. Even though he was not that big standing at 5’-10”, weighing at only 200 pounds, not as fast and strong, he managed to be an artist at his work because defenders could not stop him. Payton was a fourth overall pick by Chicago in 1975 out of Jackson State. He was selected into the Hall of Fame in 1993 but died in 1999.
