Being the biggest big cat in South America, jaguars enjoy the rain forest and dense woodlands. The jaguar average lifespan in the wild is 12 to 15 years. This animals tends to be five to six feet long, and can weigh up to 250 pounds. The jaguar is a very territorial animal and it claws trees to mark its area. The females have one to four cubs per litter, which are helpless at birth. The jaguar is endangered because they are killed for fur and to protect livestock. They have orange fur with black spots all over their body and tend to have white on their stomachs. Jaguars are good swimmers and do not avoid water. Their diet involves fish and other animals they can kill. Only 15,000 jaguars are left today.
