One big cat is the lion. It is found in savannas, grasslands, and bushy woodlands. Standing on average 48 inches high, the lion can weigh 330 to 500 pounds. The lion is generally a yellow color; its color is lighter in hot areas and darker in colder areas. The males stand out with a big mane around their neck. The lions are meat-eaters and their diet consists of mice to zebras. Lion’s litters are usually made up of two to three cubs, which take five to six years to be fully grown but are able to hunt at age two. Also at age two, a cub can roar, and a lion’s roar is a deep roar to warn predators. The average lion lives up to 13 years. |
