The Fangtooth gets its name from its large oversized teeth that line its mouth. The Fangtooth has also been called the “Ogrefish” because of its gruesome appearance. The Fangtooth lives at depths at about 16,000 ft and the water temperature there is just above freezing. Food at those depths is extremely scarce so it will eat about anything. The Fang tooth has a short deep body that has small prickly scales and a large head and mouth. This species is brown to black and grows up to 17cm long. Fangtooths show how well animals can adapt to different situations. | |
