Cheetah is Wonder Woman’s best-known archenemy. The hidden identity of Priscilla Rich, Cheetah is a wicked and evil villainess. She suffered from a terrible split personality. Because she was terribly jealous of Wonder Woman, she was commanded by her alter ego to do the things she did as Cheetah. She fought with Wonder Woman on and off for a long, long time before she was actually murdered by the following Cheetah, Barbara Minerva, who was selfish and extremely neurotic. Barbara was an archaeologist and on an exhibition in Africa, she was separated from her team and found a ceremonial ritual being done by the tribe of Urzkartagans. During the ritual, an outside tribe invaded and interrupted it; and, in the craziness, Barbara ended up trapped in a cave with the chief of the Urzkartagans. He then told her about the ritual they were performing, a ritual to give an elderly woman immortality and endless power by the cheetah god. She demanded to have the ritual done to herself instead. She received the power to transform into the Cheetah and it made her extremely powerful. Unfortunately, when transformed out of Cheetah, Barbara was extremely weak; so, when the chance arose, she had Circe transform her permanently into Cheetah. Because of her desire for Wonder Woman’s lasso, she fought with her for it, and it started the rivalry between them with Barbara as the Cheetah.
