Wonder Woman, the valiant superhero that we all know and love, was the very first American female superhero, before Bat Woman and Sue Storm, etc. During World War II, when William Marston created her, she was a symbol for women and how they can be heroes as well. She was a role model for girls, just as Superman and Batman were for boys.
