The Emperor Penguin is the largest of all the penguin species.  They can weigh anywhere around 48lbs to 82lbs.  Emperor Penguins feed off of krill and squid.  The female only lays one egg, and then it is watched over by the male.  The male does not eat during this period because his job is to keep the egg warm.  He will usually lose a third of his body weight by the time the female returns. The egg is usually laid on packed ice surfaces.
