The Little Blue Penguin is the smallest of all the penguin species.  Their feathers are an indigo-blue and gray color, which is one of the ways they obtained their name.  Little Blue Penguins are often referred to as Fairy Penguins.  Little Blue Penguins hunt in shallow waters and eat small fish such as anchovies, squid, plankton, krill, and pilchards.  They swallow their food whole.  The female will usually lay two eggs. Their nests are usually in rock crevices, or they can be found in long burrows that the penguins dig themselves.  Sharks, seals, and killer whales threaten little Blue Penguins.
