Federer wins
Roger Federer has had enormous success at all the grand slams except one, Rolland Garros, the French Open. Standing on the red clay with a trophy in his hands on the final Sunday was a task that always eluded Federer. One young Spaniard, Rafael Nada, always seemed to be standing in his way. Federer reached the finals at Rolland Garros three years in a row, each time being defeated by Nadal whose mastery on clay had yet to be challenged. In 2009, the unthinkable happened. Tennis fans around the world anticipated another Federer vs. Nadal epic, considering all other entrances to be irrelevant. The four time reigning champion was defeated in the fourth round by little-known Robin Soderling of Sweden. This looked to be a golden opportunity for Federer who easily cruised to win the title. Winning at the French Open secured his Career Grand Slam, and his title as the greatest tennis player of all time.
