The Hunger Games is a futuristic science-fiction novel written by Suzanne Collins (shown above)and published September 14, 2008. This book is the first in a trilogy, and is followed by the second book called Catching Fire. In The Hunger Games, an annual televised event, called The Hunger Games, is put on every year by the Capitol. The Capitol is ruthless and randomly selects a boy and girl from each of the twelve districts. They then throw them into an arena for a game of survival where they are forced to kill each other off till only one remains. The story is set in a country called Panem, which is in what use to be North America. The Capitol is located in what we call today the Rocky Mountains. |
