Running up to speeds of 60 to 70 miles an hour, they are the fastest land mammal. They only have to run about 30 miles an hour to catch their prey because of their excellent eyesight. The spots they have on their coat gives them great camouflage for hunting their prey. Once its prey is caught the cheetah must wait a half an hour before it enjoys its dinner, to catch its breath. With the loss of their habitat and prey they face extinction.
