Even though lions come off as ferocious, feared animals they are very social in their own prides. All of the mothers do all of the hunting, but when they come back with their prey the male usually gets first honors at the meat. Five miles is how far a male lion’s roar can be heard. If any members are near the pride, they will come back when they hear this. Most people don’t know but lions are one of the few cats that are excellent swimmers.
