Holstein cattle are one of the largest milk-producing breeds in the world. Most Holsteins produce around 23,000 pounds of milk each lactation. A lactation is usually 305 days. The 23,000 pounds is also the same as 2,674 gallons of milk. That means they make about 75 pounds or nine gallons of milk per day.
