In 1981 Strait released his first single for MCA Records called Unwound which skyrocketed into the Hot Country Songs. In 1982 his second album called Strait from the Heart, featured his very first of many number one hits. In 1983 he made his first debut at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo when starting star Eddie Rabbitt came down with the flu. Strait recorded 17 number one hits in the decade. In 1985 he won Male Vocalist at the CMAs, he repeated that award next year and released his fourth number one album. In 1990 he released his tenth studio album with songs “Love Without End, Amen” and “I’ve Come To Expect It From You.” In 1992 Strait played the main character in the movie Pure Country, and he released the movie’s soundtrack. It included well known songs such as: “Heartland”,”I Cross My Heart”,”When Did You Stop Loving Me.” These songs grew to number one and number six on Country and Billboard 200 album charts.
