Born in Stockport, England, Dominic “Dom” Howard is the drummer for Muse. He is 32 years old. Dom began playing drums at the age of 12 years old after being inspired by a local jazz band performing at his school. Dom’s first band was named Carnage Mayhem. At that time he became friends with Matt Bellamy who played guitar but wasn’t in a stable band. Bellamy later joined Howard’s band. In 2004, about ten years after Muse was officially formed, Howard experienced a great tragedy in his life. Dom’s father, William, went to Muse’s concert at Glastonbury, one of the largest performing arts festivals in the world. Shortly after their performance, William died of a heart attack. Dominic is left handed, and has an honorary Doctorate of Arts from the University of Plymouth.
